The SOFREL LX product range consists of Data Loggers specifically designed for water networks. Watertight, operational for up to 10 years thanks to their high-capacity lithium battery, fitted with a high-performance 2G/3G antenna, the LX Data Loggers are compatible with all instruments used in water networks.
Very simple to set up and easy to use thanks to the SOFREL PCWin2 and WEB LS software, the LX Data Loggers are also able to communicate with all commercially available SCADA systems and with the major third party water operator applications.

PERFECTLY WATERTIGHT
 

The LX Data Loggers are IP68 certified (prolonged submersion for 100 days in 1 metre of water) for worry-free deployment to flood-prone manholes. The military-grade connections allow the devices to interface with all instruments used on these networks.
 

 

DATA TRANSMISSION: OUR CORE COMPETENCY
 

Since its creation in 1971, LACROIX Sofrel has specialised in the field of remote transmissions, focusing in particular on wireless communication technologies. LACROIX Sofrel, on the cutting edge in this field thanks to significant R&D investments, has designed a series of Data Loggers fitted with a very high-capacity 2G/3G antenna:

• Extensive laboratory testing
• Antenna specifically designed to work underground

 

In the event of significant signal attenuation in the manhole, the FLEX version of SOFREL LX can be used either with its internal antenna, or with a connected external antenna. This version can be adapted to all field situations and saves time when setting up the product. 

Again during installation, the Data Logger can scan for the best GSM operator and signal level, allowing the Data Logger to be optimally positioned.

 

A BATTERY AND POWER MANAGEMENT OFFERING AN AUTONOMY OF UP TO 10 YEARS
 

The high-capacity battery used in the LX Data Loggers provides, depending on the model and its use, a battery life of up to 10 years.

Highly energy-efficient, LX reduces maintenance costs (fewer battery replacement campaigns).

Moreover, the battery's end of life can be anticipated thanks to remaining power diagnostics. When necessary, battery replacement takes only a few minutes (no need to return it to the factory), with no loss of product function.

 

SIMPLIFIED COMMISSIONING
 

The device is configured wirelessly via the PC's Bluetooth connection. This allows work to be performed safely next to the manhole. The operator is guided by the SOFTOOLS configuration application. This application, common to the entire SOFREL range, stands out by its graphical and highly intuitive interface. The Data Logger can be commissioned in only a few minutes.

The Data Logger's configuration can always be remotely changed using the WEB LS application.

SOFREL LX RANGE: PERFORMANCE AT EACH STEP OF THE DATA PATH

DATA ACQUISITION: INTERFACES ADAPTED TO ALL WATER NETWORK INSTRUMENTS

The LX Data Loggers are fitted, depending on the model, with interfaces for connecting to all drinking and waste water network instruments.

The single-shot DI inputs can record mechanical meter indices or pluviometer switches. LS-Flow on the other hand, is equipped with an RS485 port, allowing it to access the registers of AquaMaster (ABB), MAG8000 (SIEMENS), et WATERFLUX (KROHNE) electromagnetic flow meters.  

 

Some Data Loggers in the range are fitted with Analogue inputs (AI 4-20mA) that can be used to control physical measurement sensors: height, velocity, pressure, etc.

The LX devices are also able to interface with physicochemical measuring instruments, thus reporting data related to conductivity, Redox potential, pH, dissolved oxygen, etc

 

 

DATA PROCESSING: FUNCTIONS EMBEDDED IN THE DATA LOGGERS

Each Data Logger in the range offers functions adapted to the types of application encountered on the networks.

 

Monitoring indicator pre-calculation

• For district metering, LS devices connected to meters and flow meters calculate the average flows, night time flows and daily summaries required to monitor the volumes of water passing through the various sectors.
• For waste water, the LT devices are able to monitor rainfall or to meet self-monitoring requirements (flow rate, daily volume, number and duration of overflows, etc.).

 

Definition of threshold values for real-time network monitoring


• Threshold values can be defined, along with alerts triggered in the event of overrun, in order to guarantee greater reactivity when network incidents are detected. 
• For district metering applications, these threshold overruns may be the result of an upstream or downstream pipe burst for example. A pressure drop can be reported immediately in order to restore quality of service as rapidly as possible.

In the context of self-monitoring, an alert can be sent to SCADA central stations and/or to a mobile phone if an overflow is detected.

 

Dynamic sensor control to improve Data Logger performance

 

The integration of energy-intensive sensor consumption constraints requires the use of a smart archiving protocol. Measurement requirements are thus adapted according to:

• Flow conditions (dry time, rain time, crisis periods)

  • • Analysis time slot (night/day)

 

These primary and secondary AI archiving operations serve to optimise Data Logger operation:

• Measurement intensification during critical periods, while preserving battery life (controlled sensor power supply)

• Rationalisation of volumes of data recorded and transmitted to supervision in order to reduce communication costs.

 

DATA TRANSMISSION: ENHANCED RELIABILITY

In order to obtain effective data required to successfully complete a water operator's duties, faultless transmission between the network of Data Loggers and the central systems is essential.
 

The strength of the LX range Data Loggers is based on the quality of their internal antenna and, moreover, on the external antennas of the FLEX models.

 

UNE MISE EN SERVICE DU DATA LOGGER SIMPLIFIÉE

La configuration de l’équipement s’effectue sans fil via la liaison Bluetooth du PC. Cela permet d’intervenir en toute sécurité à proximité du regard. L’opérateur est guidé par le logiciel de paramétrage SOFTOOLS. Ce logiciel commun à toute la gamme SOFREL se distingue par son coté graphique et très intuitif. Quelques minutes seulement suffisent pour mettre en service son data logger.

Avec l’application WEB LS, il sera toujours possible d’effectuer  à distance une modification dans la configuration de son data logger.

 

UNE MAINTENANCE FACILITÉ ET EN AUTONOMIE TOUT EN GARANTISSANT UNE PARFAITE ÉTANCHÉITÉ

Les LX sont équipés d’un système de verrouillage par bague et double joints toriques afin de faciliter les opérations de maintenance :

  • • Ouverture simplifiée du boîtier en un « tour de main » (pas de vis)
  • • Accès sur site à la batterie et à la carte SIM (pas de retour usine et de perte d’usage du data logger)
  • • Garantie d’une parfaite étanchéité après la fermeture
  •  

Pour anticiper le remplacement de la pile, le data logger indique précisément la durée de vie de la pile en jours restant. Cela permet d'anticiper le remplacement de la pile et de se garantir de l'entière disponibilité du data logger.
